Getting to Koh Chang

By Road: Drive to Trat on Route 3 from Chanthaburi and then the ferry to Koh Chang. There are signs to Trat but the last stretch is along country roads and can be easy to get lost. You want to head for the Centrepoint Pier.

Coach is a popular way of getting to Trat for the ferry but can take quite a few hours from Bangkok, but there are a couple of stops on route. You may get dropped off at the Coach park near to the naval memorial where you will be collected by a pickup-taxi or mini bus to take you to the ferry. Also if travelling by coach to Koh Chang you should get your ferry ticket automatically (separate ticket from the coach ticket) if you booked through a tour agent in Thailand.

It is also possible toget a mini-bus from Bangkok etc to Koh Chang. These cost a little more but may take you all the way to your hotel.

By Air: The Quickest way to get from Bangkok. The Trat Airport is close to the ferry and a taxi or mini bus should be available for the transfer.

Ferry: The Ferry can be caught from the Centerpoint pier and departs every 20 minutes (30 minutes is more realistic) and is a 45 minute journey to Koh Chang. On arriving at Ko Chang, unless driving yourself, you will need to get one of the pick-up taxi's to your hotel. It is worth checking if the taxi from the coach park is going to Koh Chang. If it is and is going past your hotel, they may drop you off.
