Transportation

Getting to the Island is by ferry departing from the following

  • Surat Thani with a day service and a night service. The day service is a 4 hour journey and the night service is a 9 hour journey.
  • Chumphon - A 1.5 to 3 hours journey
  • Koh Samui - 2.5 hours
  • Koh pha Ngan - 1 hour

All ferrys arrive Ban Mae Haad. Lomprayah offer the quickest service on the newest boats, and also have VIP lounges where passengers can watch movies in an air conditioned lounge. In contrast, Songserm is a no-frills point to point fast ferry, where most passengers disembark slightly more green in the face than when they boarded

Getting around the Island.

Most roads are dirt roads and mopeds and dirt bikes are the most coomon vehicles on the island. Motor bike accidents are common on the island so make sure you have good health cover before going. Taxis are available and your hotel should be able to arrange one when you need.
